Pastor Elliot R. Shelton, Sr. & Lady Jeaneen Shelton
For the past 20 years, Pastor Elliot R. Shelton, Sr. has led one of the most prominent congregations in the Memphis metropolitan area. A man after the heart of God, his mission is to inspire God’s people to discover their fullest potential through the Word of God. Pastor Shelton has spent literally his entire life in church, growing up as the son of a Pastor, under his father Rev. Elmer Shelton. His love of ministry was recognized as early as 6 years old. While playing with blocks with his grandmother, he described building a church “with everything in it that people would need, so they would never have to leave church for anything.”
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 12. Quickly after, he became familiar to the full-scale of ministry at all levels at his father’s church, St. Stephen Baptist Church. A young Pastor Shelton worked diligently as recording secretary of the Sunday School, and even taught Sunday School as well. He held roles as Youth Advisor and sang in the choir. Additionally, he served as the President of the Youth Baptist State Convention. At a young age, he was noted ‘one of the young ministers to watch.’
The calling of Pastoring came into fruition at the age of 23 when he became the Pastor at New Hope Church in Helena, AR. He was working full-time and was a well sought-after Preacher for revival opportunities, locally and in other areas of the country. In April 2000, Pastor Shelton became the Senior Pastor of Promise Land Church with about 40 members at that time. Through God’s grace, divine order, and effective ministry, the last 20 years have entailed Pastor Shelton spearheading membership growth of over 700 members that resulted in two facility moves due to exponential church expansion, establishing a community, city, and regional presence, broadcasting local and regional television programs, founding both a child care academy and a senior assistance service, features in numerous print articles, training leaders, impacting lives, and renewing people’s heart for God. Pastor Shelton has regularly hosted for Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) in addition to countless preaching engagements, and has been featured on Memphis’ Inspirational radio station 95.7 Hallelujah FM. Pastor Shelton is the Host of "A Word for Your World" Radio Broadcast that airs Sundays @ 11:30 AM CST on the Pastor Elliot R. Shelton, Sr. Radio Network (USA/World) which is a subsidiary of Finding My Way Radio Networks (USA/World) that he serves as CEO & Founder.
Pastor Shelton is a Memphis native, born and raised. He is a 1992 Kirby High School graduate, and afterwards, attended The University of Memphis as an Electrical Engineering major. Shortly after accepting the call of God on his life, he enrolled in and become a 1996 graduate of American Baptist College; and later earned his Master of Divinity degree at Mid-America Theological Seminary.
Pastor Shelton met the love of his life, First Lady Jeaneen (Allen) Shelton, at his father’s church. They have 2 sons in college, Elliot, Jr., and Julian. Pastor and First Lady Shelton diligently work hand in hand together in ministry, and their sons also serve to carry out their individual callings to further the kingdom of God as a united family. The Sheltons are active members of the city and community, and have hearts for serving God with excellence.
